SAVE BIG
QUICK TIPS:
- Look for last seasons gear – As the new gear lines come out, you can often get last seasons gear at a steep discount (sizing may be limited).Â
- If you’re buying gear for the first time – Get boots first because having a nice set of your own boots is a game changer and keeps the feel consistent even if you’re renting.
- Buy boots in person – Boot fit is critical, but if you can’t find a boot locally, try ordering 2-3 sizes and return those that don’t fit.
- Look for a MIPS helmet – MIPS helmets increase concussion protection and the other bells and whistles just cost extra (fit is also super important here).
- Check local marketplaces – Right before the seaon starts, lots of people offload their older gear to make room for their new stuff, so check Facebook market, Craigslist, or any other local marketplace.
- Broken gear? Check your warranty – Often, if you purchased new gear last year and it broke during the season, you can get replacement gear under the warranty.
- Check for industry discounts – If you work in the outdoor industry (forest industry, service workers, healthcare, etc.), brands will offer discounts, and it never hurts to check! (Pstt, apply to work at Bluewood).
- Look for events or promotions to save on lift tickets – Lots of times, resorts will have buy 1 get 1 deals on lift tickets, free tickets if you drive a certain car, or college day discounts for college students.Â
- Carpooling – Split the cost of gas and shred with the crew.
- Buy a pass – If you plan on ripping the mountain more than 9 times, you’ll save big with a pass.
