A few weeks ago, we said we’d keep you posted on developments at Bluewood. As promised, here’s another update. We’re excited to announce that two new structures are being installed at Bluewood, and the base work has already begun. Designed to relieve congestion in high-traffic “pinch points” around the lodge area and provide better social distancing, these buildings will provide designated areas for guests to pick up lift tickets, sign up for lessons and get their rental gear. Along with an upgraded point-of-sale system and new website with enhanced reservations and ticket purchasing, these improvements will elevate the Bluewood guest experience.
Here are some of the details, with more to come in the weeks ahead:
THE HUB—At the upper corner of the parking lot and to the left of the lodge, a 1,956-square-foot Sprung building is being constructed that will house both Rentals and SnowSports. Engineered to withstand severe weather conditions and shed heavy snow loads, “The Hub” will be the go-to for guests to pick up ski/snowboard rentals and sign up for lessons. No more crammed lines in the lower lodge level for skis, snowboards and lesson signups.
BASE YURT—At the base of the lodge, near the ski racks, a 450-square-foot yurt is being installed. Similar to the yurt at the summit, this is where guests will go to pick up reserved/pre-purchased lift tickets. The base yurt will help streamline ticket pickup, improve social distancing, and get guests to the lifts even faster than before.
With Rentals, SnowSports and ticket pickup shifting to new outbuildings, that leaves about 1,200 square feet available in the lodge. This space, just outside the pub, is being converted into another dining area, where guests can stop for hot snacks like pizza and chili, served from where the SnowSports window used to be! More photos and details to come as remodeling continues.
As building progresses, we’ll keep you in the loop. Rest assured, the steps we’re investing in for health and safety during the COVID-19 pandemic will continue to serve Bluewood guests for years to come.
